Paint With A Rainbow
This summer, we have been enjoying a little family time, holidays and outings, and lots of sunshine. When we are suffering from our post holiday blues, we reach for our rainbow of paints. We don’t know about you, but we often find ourselves reaching for a palette to reflect the current season or events that are going on. Summer sunshine and a rainbow palette never fails to bring a smile to our face. It was not too long ago during the first lockdown that rainbows were everywhere because they are such a symbol of hope.
The great thing about painting with a rainbow of colour is that if you don’t have a wide range of paints in your collection, you can mix the colours using the primary colours from DecoArt (these are also included in our Intermediate Masterclass along with a colour mixing lesson). Not only that, but they all work so well together that you never have to worry about clashing colours because the finished project always look great.
So, if you are curious to try painting with a rainbow of colour, here’s a little inspiration to get you started…
Rainbow Poppies - Here we transferred our poppy outline (taught in our Intermediate Masterclass) to fill our journal page and painted them in a range of colours, bringing in the green for the poppy details and foliage.
Rainbow Roses - One of the things we recommend to our customers is to spend 2 hours a week practicing their brushstrokes. Here, we filled our journal page with rows of roses to create a beautiful rainbow pattern. Repetition is a great way to improve your skills and develop that all important muscle memory.
Rainbow Daisies - Sometimes, we don't always have an hour to relax into painting, so a few flowers may be all we have time for. Painting a few flowers in different colours helps turn a quick project into something more than it is.
Rainbow Rose Clusters - If you fancy a bit of a challenge and have more time to spend painting, why not use your rainbow palette to try a combination of colours? Here are the first few colours of the rainbow we painted.
Rainbow Brushstrokes - If you don't feel confident yet painting full designs, that's ok. You can still invite a rainbow of colour to your page using just your brushstrokes.
We hope we have inspired you to have a go painting with a rainbow, it is great fun!
Until next time x
